An experience in VR and analog theater reality that allows the audience to step into the story of another person. In English with German subtitles. An experience in VR and analog theater reality that allows the audience to step into the story of another person. The theater company Dead Centre explores the immersive power of Virtual Reality (VR) in "To Be a Machine (Version 2.0)." Antonin Artaud originally used the term to describe the essence of theater as an escapist space where we can escape ourselves for an evening. But where do we go when theater no longer takes place? Is a VR headset the new theater? Could this digital VR world someday feel more real than reality itself? What is wrong with reality? Why do we have the need to escape it? "To Be a Machine (Version 2.0)" impressively plays with the means of VR technology and the expectations we have of reality and theatrical illusion. The Irish-British theater group Dead Centre was founded in 2012 by Bush Moukarzel, Ben Kidd, and Adam Welsh and is based in Dublin. As artistic directors, Moukarzel and Kidd remain part of the collective. Dead Centre realizes their projects in Dublin, Gothenburg, at the Burgtheater Vienna, and in other German-speaking theater cities. Their works are performed internationally, including in the USA, Hong Kong, China, Australia, France, Estonia, the Netherlands, Romania, Italy, and the United Kingdom.
